It is with great excitement that I introduce to you our new assistant principal, Mrs. Claire Garrett.  Mrs. Garrett  will be great addition to our Root team.  Mrs. Garrett possesses qualities that any school would desire. She exemplifies a family style of leadership and builds strong relationships with students, staff and parents focusing on doing what’s best for students.  

Mrs. Garrett is comes to Root after serving as a special services designee for several schools in Fayetteville Public SchoolsMrs. Garrett has taught second grade as well as special education. I am thrilled to have Mrs. Garrett as a member of the Root Rocket Family.

I am honored and elated to serve Root Elementary School as assistant principal. I am excited to continue with the rich culture and community partnerships that are currently in place, and I am thrilled to call Root my home. The family environment along with strong teachers and support staff are what I want to be a part of and build on in the future. I am devoted to Root and the growth of students, teachers and staff. I am already eager for the 2017-2018 school year to begin,” said Mrs. Garrett.


Claire Garrett received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and obtained her master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Arkansas State University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and is the current president of the Personnel Policies Committee for Fayetteville Schools. Claire and her husband Michael have two children, Lowe and Lillian. Lowe is a Root Rocket and Lillian will be two in August. Their family loves outdoor activities, music and rooting on the Bulldogs and Razorbacks!!!
