Root Chute Updates! Families were treated to a beautiful new crosswalk on their way into school this morning. Journeys begin with first steps and these kids are ready to blast off into Root learning fun!
Second graders from Root Elementary traded their desks for the great outdoors when Dr. Laura Ruhl-Whittle of the USGS and Justin Keen, FPS Outdoor Education and Sustainability Specialist, led an adventurous field trip to Clarence Craft Park. The young explorers followed the trail from their classroom straight to the creek’s edge, where science came alive under the bright spring sky. Equipped with nets, sample jars, and plenty of curiosity, students tested the local water quality and learned how environmental scientists study the health of streams. From spotting tiny aquatic critters to recording observations like real researchers, the day was a hands-on lesson in environmental stewardship and the wonders of the natural world.
💜 Happy National Administrative Professionals Day!
Today we celebrate the incredible administrative professionals across our district who keep everything running smoothly each and every day. From welcoming families to supporting staff and students, your organization, care, and attention to detail make a difference in every school and office.
Thank you for all you do to keep Fayetteville Public Schools moving forward. We appreciate you! 💜

The Root Rockets cheer on their student athletes participating in this year's Special Olympic Games.

After reading "The Lemonade War" by Jacqueline Davies Root Rocket Launch Pad third graders brought the story off the page and onto the track for their very own Lemonade War!🍋
Students put their creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking to work as they created lemonade stands and enjoyed a hands on experience inspired by the book. What a fun and memorable way to connect reading with real world learning! 💜

Root Elementary has been celebrating Multicultural Week with meaningful opportunities to learn about cultures and traditions from around the world. Today, students enjoyed a special presentation about China from a Root parent who shared authentic items and gave students a firsthand look at the country’s rich culture and traditions. Experiences like this bring learning to life and broaden students’ understanding of the world!
Tonight, Root families will gather for Multicultural Family Dinner Night to celebrate a week filled with meaningful learning and connection! 💜

It’s School Resource Officer Day! SRO’s play an important part in our schools by not only promoting safety, but by bridging the gaps between law enforcement and our youth.
SROs are carefully selected, specifically trained, sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work with schools using community-oriented policing concepts.
We appreciate ALL of our school resource officers and their dedication to the students and staff of Fayetteville Public Schools!

Root Elementary students are building "dinoramas" as part of the Launching Curiosity learning program. Students recreated scenes from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods to explore how Earth changed over time.
Students also learned how scientists use the fossil record to understand ancient animals, plants, and environments. A hands-on project filled with curiosity and dinosaurs! 🦕🌍
